Description of holiday home Atalaya
This house is uniquely located below an ancient Moorish watchtower (atalaya) in Nijar. The Sierra de Alhamilla mountain range is right behind the house; an ideal environment for endless walks. The roof terrace of the house is large with spectacular views over the village and its surroundings. At the side of the house is another small walled and shady garden where you can take shelter from the sun on hot days. The interior and the decoration of the house is tasteful and light: a pleasant blend of antique and Moorish features, beautiful pictures and colours. Partly due to a good wood burner, the house is comfortable even on colder and cloudy days. The house is loacted at the edge of the village, all amenities are in walking distance.

Nijar is a cosy village known for its ceramics and tapistry made in the region. The house is within half an hour from the beaches of Cabo de Gata nature park and the city of Almeria. The last few hundred meters to the house; narrow and winding road through the village. It’s possible to take the car close to the house, but you’re advised to park the car in the village below.

Ground floor: well-equipped spacious kitchen/diner and adjacent garden with a staircase to the roof terrace. There's also a washing machine on the ground floor.
First floor: generous living room with lounge area and another dining table near the wood burner; two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with 2 single beds. Each bedroom has its own bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. Need more room? La Cueva - next door - sleeps two extra.
The nearest airport is Almeria (LEI), this is a fairly small airport. Alicante airport (ALC) is 3 hours away, this also applies to Malaga (AGP).
